About

About

With over 60,000 miles of creeks, steams, and rivers flowing though Tennessee, natural waterways are significant features in our landscapes. They provide many benefits, from protecting drinking water resources to recreation and agriculture.

However, land use change and increased storm intensities are putting natural channels at risk of erosion. Creekbank erosion causes sediment pollution and loss of land.

Here, the focus is on bioengineering techniques and nature-based practices that repair and protect vulnerable and eroded banks to restore ecological integrity to riparian areas.
